Lyrics for "Sister Pendleton Went Down to Wal-Mart"

Sister Pendleton went down to Wal Mart
She was lookin’ for a soul to save
She had a BOM and a pass along
Written in English, Spanish, and Hmong
When she came across this young man lookin’ mad and gettin’ his food
And she jumped up on his shopping cart said “You change that attitude!”
“Now I’ve got a book right here for you that means the world to me”
“And if you care to take a dare I’ll let you look and see”
Johnny said, “I don’t want your book ‘cause there’s nothing that I need”
“I’ve got the Bible, the key to survival and the Lord said give it heed”

Grab your Book of Mormon and testimony too
Sister Pendleton you’ve got this one chance and it’s up to you
And if you win you get this precious investigator made of gold
But if you lose the devil gets his soul

Johnny pulled out his anti book and said, “I’ll start this show”
And he said some things about Joseph Smith that were awful mean and low
As he spoke his voice became the sound of a nasty hiss
And a band of demons joined in and it sounded something like this

Sister Pendleton looked him in the eye and said “Why none of that’s true!”
“Now you listen here while I make it clear that this applies to you”

Chorus
Words of prophets written in gold
Buried in a hill in days of old
Dug up by Joseph, interpret those plates
Teaches of Christ and of our fates

The Spirit spoke to Johnny’s heart and said, “Her words are true”
So Johnny said, “I’d like to read that book if that’s okay with you”
Sister Pendleton got a big ‘ole smile and said “Why of course you may!”
“But before you go I have to know (Baptismal commitment)”
